THE GREAT GET TOGETHER BANKSIDE

The Great Get Together Bankside a street party like no other
Saturday 25 June 2022 (1200-1800)
Borough Yards, Stoney Street, London SE1 9AD
Living Bankside is pleased to host this year’s Great Get Together Bankside, part of a
nationwide series of activities. The event is an initiative inspired by the late Jo Cox
designed to bring people together to celebrate what they have in common. People
are encouraged to make new connections and promote Jo's message of unity. In
partnership with Refugee Week the theme this year is ‘welcome’.
Speaking about the event, Amir Eden (Executive Chair of Living Bankside) said:
“While there may be other street parties, there is only one Great Get Together
Bankside. What was very evident at the recent launch of the programme for this year
was the legacy and impact of The Great Get Together Bankside. From a one-day
‘moment’ we are taking forward a ‘movement’ - with residents, businesses and
others regularly coming together, listening to one another, and working together to
make the area an even better place to live, work and visit.
When we bring different people together, Jo’s words - “we have more in common
than that which divides us” - come to life. The theme of ‘welcome’ resonates with us
here in Bankside where we are well used to welcoming people from all over the
globe. We also welcome back workers and others in the post pandemic environment.
The event is taking place during Refugee Week and so the theme of ‘welcome’ is
particularly relevant: given tensions in the world, we have families from many
different countries and cultures join and enrich our community.”
Festivities will include: the Bankside Bake-Off; Dog Competition, Wacky Races,
Stitch-a-thon; an array of music, dance, special performances, and children's
activities.
The event will be held on Saturday, 25 June 2022 from 1200 noon till 6pm in and
around one of SE1’s newest venue: Borough Yards. Living Bankside is delighted to
work with a range of partners in order to host the event including a number of local
cultural institutions such as the Borough Market, Shakespeare's Globe, Southwark
Cathedral, Tate Modern and many more.
Should you wish to get involved: to participate, volunteer, sponsor, or otherwise, then
