The Very Revd. Andrew Nunn
'Bankside is one of the truly historic districts of London, a place in which people have lived, worked and played. We still do. Those of us who have the privilege of being Bankside residents know why this is one of the most popular areas to live in, to spend time in and to do business in. It is vibrant, exciting and diverse; a place of spiritual nourishment in our ancient cathedral and physical nourishment in the Borough Market; a place in which minds and imaginations are stretched in the Globe and the Tate; a place in which media, arts, finance and law have global hubs and make local contributions.
However, Bankside residents also know that with all that is positive and to be celebrated come real challenges. Maintaining this diverse and real community needs conscious commitment. Supporting neighbours in the stresses of daily living is something we all have to do. Making sure there is a worthwhile Bankside to hand on to our children calls for vigilance and determination. That is why, as Rector of the Church of England parish, Dean of the Cathedral and a resident in this area I am delighted to be a Patron of the Bankside Residents Forum. This is our forum for this is our Bankside.'
The Very Revd Andrew Nunn was born in Leicester in 1957. He grew up there and attended primary and secondary schools in Wigston, where he was also a member of the choir of All Saints Church, Wigston Magna.
Andrew was installed as Dean of Southwark in January 2012. Prior to that, he was Sub Dean and Precentor of Southwark (1999-2010) and Acting Dean from November 2010.
He is a member of the General Synod and Southwark Diocesan Synod. He is a Foundation Governor of St Saviour's & St Olave's Girls' School in Southwark.
He is also Chaplain to the Worshipful Company of Launderers, the Worshipful Company of Innholders and the Whitsters Club.
Andrew contributes to the local church by teaching and speaking at a number of courses and events in the Diocese of Southwark and further afield outside the Diocese.
He is a member of the General Synod of the Church of England and on the Panel of Chairs of the Synod.
He served as a member of the Crown Nominations Commission from 2011 until 2017.
He is Rector General of the Society of Catholic Priests. His many interests include theatre, cinema, reading and travel.
